God Can Heal Your Broken Heart

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

(Luke 4:18 King James Version)

“A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.”

(Proverbs 15:13)

“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

(Proverbs 17:22)

“The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?”

(Proverbs 18:14)

One of the reasons that Jesus came was to heal the broken-hearted. He is the great mender of broken hearts.

Christ Himself was broken-hearted:

“Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.”

(Psalm 69:19-20)

This speaks of the ordeal Jesus went through at His crucifixion.

God will give you hope and lift your spirit. He is the “God of all comfort”:

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

(2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

God specialises in restoring broken people, and He sees everything we are going through.

Give it to God:

Sanctify it into God’s hands. Release it to God, and allow the healing process to begin. Give it to Him and let Him work.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

(Philippians 1:16)

Repent:

If you are continuing to walk in sin you are hindering the work God wants to do in your life. Get that sin out! Give God a clean platform to work of. Sin muddies the waters of your soul and is a problem.

Do you want to be truly healed, or do you just want a patch-up job? Only Jesus can truly bring that healing you need.

The Devil:

The Devil wants to take the pain you have been through and use it negatively in your life. You see, he could use it to keep you in captivity, to be angry at God or others, and never be free. He can use it to drive you to depression and despair, or even suicide. That is why it is important to give it to God. There is a healer.

Turn away from anger and bitterness, and don’t give the enemy a foothold:

“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Neither give place to the devil.”

(Ephesians 4:26-27)

“Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.”

(Hebrews 12:15)

There must be submission to God! How can God work if you won’t submit to Him? God does care! You better believe it! God wants to make you whole! You need hope, faith to believe God, and you need to know and experience the love of God:

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”

(1 Corinthians 13:13)

The sorrow of this world can be a negative force in your life:

“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”

(2 Corinthians 7:10)

“Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.”

(Psalm 32:10)

God’s Wounded Soldiers:

God has got wounded soldiers that got hurt on the battlefield. God loves His wounded soldiers and wants to bring every one of them home.  They got wounded in the heat of battle, but He can doctor their wounds and send them back into battle.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

(Psalm 147:3)

There is an intense battle for souls going on—things you can’t see. There are powers of darkness in operation. Put on the whole armour of God. Get ready for more attacks; the Devil isn’t finished yet! But you can make it. God wants to make a warrior out of you. Be strong and trust God.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”

(Ephesians 6:10-18)
